Abstract

Equitable regional development always needs to be improved so that the
growth rate between regions in urban and rural areas is balanced, that is
the mandate of the Guidelines for State Policy (GBHN) in 1998. The
purpose of transmigration is to improve community welfare, increase and
equalize regional development and strengthen unity and the Unitary
Republic of Indonesia.
In 2014 in Papua Province, the government through the transmigration
program has built 36 transmigration settlement units that have grown to
117 definitive villages, 19 ex-transmigration settlements have developed
into sub-district capitals (Data from the Ministry of villages, developing
underdeveloped areas and transmigration, 2015).
Keerom Regency is one of the transmigration areas in Papua Province. In
this publication data are presented relating to transmigration and non-
transmigration areas. The transmigration area is represented by the
Districts of Arso, East Arso, West Arso, Mannem and Skanto. And non-
transmigration areas are represented by Towe, Waris, Web, Yaffi, Senggi
and Kaisenar Districts.
